Texas Hold’em Strategy for Pocket Fours Hand
Let us assume that a player is participating in the Hold’em Tournament for some time and that around 60% of the players have already completed. As a part of the assumption, the player had been performing well in the initial round, after which he found his stack to be stagnant. Also, let us assume that the player is sitting in the seat number 8 on a table and that there are only 8 players left. In the subsequent hand the player is given a pair of fours. In addition, there are 2 other players, who are before him, i.e. in seat number 6 and 7 and they are about to call 600 chip big blind. In this stage, the player must be able to decide whether he has to raise a bet, fold or call the blind. Hence, he must be aware of the strategy for pocket four hands.
For this, the player must be aware of the fact that the pair of pocket fours offer only 8.3% chance of winning. More to the point, a pair of pocket fours ranks 61st strongest hand when compared to the 169 cards that are left. In addition, the pair of fours stands in the 11th rank among the two card hands. This obviously proves that the player is having a card that is less strong. In case, if the third 4 emerges on the flop and if its odds are inaccessible, then the hand can be considered worthy to bet. In addition, the blinds may be high. Hence it can be concluded as an expensive event for the player, to try and chase the third 4. For that reason, this hand is considered to be a disaster.
The player must have an eye on the blinds and should observe if they are growing steeper. Since, this may cause the player get an indecent hand and loose the game. However, the player must learn that the pair of fours on the players is not of any worth, to continue playing. Having such a low pair, it is better to avoid playing with other players. Also, it is not advisable to call the bet. After the player calls for a bet, the remaining players may either declare “all in” or may raise a bet. In case, it gets materialized, then the player may have to go through another awful stage to decide if the bets are to be raised or not. Therefore the best possible alternative is that the player must fold his hand, maintain the present chip and keep waiting until he gets a better hand in the tournament!
